The purpose of this study was to identify the AIDS related knowledge and attitudes according to sex of college students and provide basic data for guidelines concerning AIDS. The subjects were 342 students from ¡¯A¡¯ and ¡¯D¡¯ colleges in Gyeonggi-do. Data were collected by self-reporting of questionnaires developed by Shin & Hong(1996). The data were collected from April 1 to 15, 2003. The data were analyzed using SPSS/PC+ for the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Cronbach¡¯s Alpha, z©÷-test, Pearson correlation coefficient, ANOVA and t-test. The reliability of the instrument for the AIDS related knowledge was Cronbach¡¯s Alpha= .6589. The results were as follows¡¯. 1. The mean age of the subjects was 22 years old, 48.8£¥ of them were female while 51.2£¥ were male. 64.0£¥ of the students reported that they obtained AIDS information from media devices. 2. The mean score for AIDS related knowledge was 12.01(2.90). According to sex, the female got 12.31 while the male got 11.75. 3. The mean score for AIDS related attitude was 3.45(¡¾ .55). According to sex, the female got 3.38 while the male got 3.51. 4. There was no significant correlation between AIDS knowledge and attitude (r=- .0623. p= .126). 5. AIDS knowledge was significantly related to some general characteristics such as age (r= .142, p= .006) and department(F=3.608. p= .014). 6. None of general characteristics affect the attitude toward AIDS.
